Twinkling lights, Christmas music in the streets and a jam-packed activities programme – it’s certainly Christmas time in the capital. Below is a list of fun events for the whole family.  Different entities, including the Valletta Local Council, the Valletta 2018 Foundation, Arts Council Malta, Pjazza Teatru Rjal and Fondazzjoni Ċelebrazzjonijiet Nazzjonali, have collaborated together to devise a diverse and interesting Christmas programme.

 

Dates and events:

17 – 20 December – The Christmas Maltese Artisans Fair at Jean De Valetta Square will be open daily from 9am – 7pm.

20th December – Official opening of ‘Milied Flimkien’ at the Palace Courtyard in which the President of Malta, the Prime Minister and the leader of the Opposition address the nation with a message of unity at 6:00pm. On the same day, Christmas concert will be held at Our Lady of Victories Church by Enkor Choir at 7:30pm

21st December – Christmas Carols and Dance Extravaganza at Pjazza Teatru Rjal at 10:00am.

23rd December – National Baby Jesus procession in Merchants Street and Republic Street, followed by religious programme by the Society of MUSEUM at Pjazza Teatru Rjal at 5:30pm

23 – 31 December – Christmas 3D Architectural Mapping Projections on the Palace facade. Shows from 5:30 pm till 11:30 pm. This is a joint-project between the Valletta 2018 Foundation and MCAST Institute for Art and Design. On Christmas Eve, there will be an extra show after midnight Mass. 31 December – New Year’s Eve National Event at Pjazza San Gorg. The Christmas 3D Architectural Mapping Projection project will have a special countdown to usher in the New Year. Visit our Cultural Programme for more info.
