Kotra is a concept focusing mainly around the idea of making Maltese language attractive to younger audiences, mainly through the means of contemporary art, literature and music.

Last year’s edition saw the participation of five top local acts who all sing in Maltese, an art exhibition, a piece completed by a local graffiti artist, and various stalls such as ones selling books with contemporary literature etc. It also saw the conceptual support and backing of local entity ‘Kelma Kelma’ who are the same people behind the massive concerts ‘kelma kelma, nota nota’.

Following last year’s great response, Kotra is now over two days – Friday 25th March and Saturday 26th March. The event features nine music performers consisting of: Mistura, Marmalja, Kapitlu Tlettax (debut), Brodu, R.A.S., Cyberia (retro industrial music in Maltese), Kafena (of Big Band Brothers’ Daniel Cauchi and Kris Spiteri), a DJ set by Mike Bugeja with his personal picks and Sonitus Eco performing an electronic set accompanied by narrations from local contemporary literature.
