‘Li Bqajna’ is a reflective re-enactment of the thought-provoking American TV series ‘The leftovers’ (2014), which revolves around the disappearance of 2% of the population of the world. The TV show focuses on New York fictional town and the life and interaction between the members of its community. The re-enactment forms a conceptual framework which relates to the daily struggles as portrayed in the original TV series and personal reflection on the psychological trauma that one passes from when a sudden departure of a loved one/s happen suddenly without any explainable reason/s. The ‘leftovers’ who are all connected by the same tragical event, are left with unanswered questions. They all have to find their own ways to survive and find the right equilibrium in this imbalanced world impacted by unsatisfying explanations, deep emptiness, constant change, speed, uncertainty and basic human needs.

‘Li Bqajna’ includes dance, original music by Mariella Cassar Cordina with narration and audio-visual work by artist Carmen Aquilina.
