Malta Buskers Show is a street art project endorsed by the Valletta 2018 Foundation. It is an Interdisciplinary Street Art event which includes Dance, Music, Puppetry, Acrobatics, Theatre, Contact Improvisation, Juggling, Trapeze, Aerial Silk and all disciplines from Contemporary Circus. The show represents the first project in Malta which brings these types of international professionals in the streets of Valletta.
The core of street art theatre is the audience. The audience leads the artist; each viewer talks, walks around and unintentionally becomes an active part of the show.
The artists will perform in streets and squares of the capital, attracting not only tourists but, above all, citizens and residents of all ages. Performances in public space permit sharing, free admission and a festive atmosphere, creating a strong calling in social and spatial integration. Malta Buskers Show aims to create a cultural exchange with the Padova Street Show. This is a Street Artists’ Festival that takes place every June in the historical centre of Padua, Veneto, Italy.
Malta Buskers Show will create a collaborative European platform for street art performers in Malta, stimulating co-operation and networking between artists around Europe, increasing cross-sector exchange, opportunity and connection for all artists around. It will improve cultural sector capacity and opportunities for collaboration/employment.
The show will take place in the centre of Valletta over three days of outdoor performances between Friday 12th October 2018 and Sunday 14th October 2018. The Friday and Saturday shows will be held between 6:00PM and 11:30PM while the Sunday show will be held between 10:30AM until 11:30PM.
