Valletta 2018 in collaboration with Pjazza Teatru Rjal presents Bewildered Music Festival, a two-day celebration of alternative and indie music, on the 28th and 29th August 2015 at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta.

Featuring some of the top local musicians and international acts including London-based bands BIG DEAL and Leave the Planet, Berlin-based Maltese musician Jim Hickey, as well as local acts Plato’s Dream Machine, Fastidju and CHIN∆, the two-day festival will please the converted but also those who have never ventured into the niche.

The festival developed from the concept of Sofar Sounds Malta, an innovative model of intimate, secret pop-up gigs held within domestic spaces, introduced in April 2014. Bewildered Music Festival presents the Maltese audience with an opportunity to listen to non-mainstream musical genres which are not usually played on radio, resulting in more exposure to different art forms.

Bewildered Music Festival is part of the Valletta 2018 cultural programme being developed in the run up to the European Capital of Culture year. This focuses among other, on the commitment to providing Maltese artists with a platform to perform and showcase their talents while simultaneously organising high quality cultural events in Valletta as part of the run up to 2018.

Collaboration between the Valletta 2018 Foundation and Pjazza Teatru Rjal started earlier this year ahead of the first ‘Bewildered Music Festival’. Through this project, Valletta 2018 is bringing together upcoming European bands, Maltese musicians and young audiences in a much loved social atmosphere.
