Already a staple of the cultural scene in Naples, Altofest brings a fresh and exciting programme to Valletta 2018. This alternative performing arts festival has been on the lookout for ‘space donors’ all over Malta, taking local residents up on offers to host cultural events inside private homes and community spaces.
Artists in the Altofest network have been working in close contact with their host communities, forging relationships and engaging in dialogue to produce original artwork for the festival. The result is a showcase of performing arts taking place across four different regions in Malta and which audiences can follow along the festival’s circuit. Altofest’s grassroots approach encourages multicultural exchange, giving rise to new ways of thinking about the role of contemporary art in cities.

27 – 29 April – Performances in Qormi, Ħamrun & Santa Venera
4 – 6 May 2018 – Performances in Żejtun
11 – 13 May 2018 – Performances in Bormla, Birgu, Valletta, Gżira & Sliema
