Calypso Project: Stories of Islands invites you to undertake a musical journey through twelve Mediterranean islands, wherein their stories are told through music, words and musical instruments. A family of musicians composed of father, mother, son, and daughter-in-law, sing folk music in Italian, Sicilian, Sabir, Sardinian, and Spanish, while playing unusual musical instruments together on stage – the hurdy-gurdy, nickel harp, lira, accordion, shell, trumpet-violin, autoharp, and many others. During their performance resident communities share typical Maltese dishes seasoned with the aromas of the Mediterranean. It’s an informal and friendly atmosphere that invites people to forge new friendships.
