Our oceans are full of waste and plastic and by 2020 it is frightening to think that there might be more plastic in the sea than fish.

The Valletta Green Festival in collaboration with a number of environmental NGOs, the PDSA and Mellieħa Diving school are conducting a land and sea clean up in the limits of Mellieħa.

The land clean-up will start from l-Aħrax and will include the cleaning of Slugs Bay and all the way along the edge of the water to Mellieħa Bay.

The sea bed clean-up will take place from Tunny Net all across the bay.

Sea shell Diving Center will be providing all diving tanks and cylinders for the divers that will participate in the clean-up, as well as two dinghies to help collect rubbish bags from hard to reach areas.

This clean up is organised with the help of  BirdLife Malta, Żibel, fish4tomorrow, Shark lab Malta, Friends of the Earth Malta together with the PDSA (Professional Divers Association of Malta), Sea Shells Diving School, Waste Serve, Mellieha Local Council, and other sponsors acquired by Żibel
