Pilsen 2015, the Czech European Capital of Culture for the year 2015, is staging Aladdin, a creative production that is part of the Pilsen 2015 cultural programme. Produced by the Czech-French team led by Czech artist and actor Matěj Forman, Aladdin was developed at the Théâtre du Jeu de Paume in Aix-en-Provence, France, in 2013/2014 and is showing in Pilsen this February and March. The idea behind the Czech-French collaboration was conceived when Marseille became the European Capital of Culture 0f 2013.

The audience enters the magical world of One Thousand and One Nights through a narrative and a set which is constantly changing. The production includes puppets, melodies, images and exotic props that will surely captivate anyone who sees it. The story of Aladdin and his genie lamp, as well as Scheherazade’s stories, instil a sense of adventure within children and adults alike.

The Forman Brothers Theatre and the Sodomka duo, Andrea and Josef, have produced the spectacular costumes, props and scenography. Czech composer Daniel Wunsch is the genius behind the music while the brilliant animation was created by Anna Krtičková.
