Big Eyes is a biographical film directed by Tim Burton, based on the true story of Walter (Christoph Waltz) and Margaret Keane (Amy Adams). Walter Keane was considered to be one of the most successful painters of the 1950s and 1960s with his paintings of big eyed waifs. However, in actual fact, the paintings were actually produced by his immensely talented wife, Margaret. Burton’s film focuses on Margaret’s awakening as an artist, her paintings’ tremendous success, and her bumpy complicated relationship with the man who took credit for her work.
Big Eyes is showing at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity on 8 February at 8pm, 14 February at 3pm, 18 February at 6.30pm and 27 February at 8.30pm. For more information, please visit the St James Cavalier official website.
