The Valletta 2018 Foundation is working on the production of a Drawing Book, aimed at children and young people. Thus the Foundation would like to issue a call for submissions of Illustrations which will delight the pages of this Publication. Each illustration must be related to or depicting any project or event of Valletta 2018 Foundation. The illustrators who are chosen to produce these designs will be central, authors in their own right, whose art will etch the diverse stories of the European Capital of Culture. They will be commissioned according to their own personal style and own take on the various themes of the numerous projects of the Foundation. This drawing book will eventually be widely distributed in schools.

- Cover printed in Full Colour on White Art Board Matt 250 gsm
- Inside Pages printed in black only on White Cartridge Paper 120 gsm
- Inside Pages printed Front and Back
- Finishing: Saddle Stitched
How to apply
Email a link to a portfolio of your illustration or by attaching pdfs or jpegs of at least five examples of your style. Applications must be sent by email to [email protected] by end of day on 15 April 2018. Portfolios will be reviewed and Illustrators will be then chosen and commissioned accordingly.
The project
Production of one cover illustration (which will establish the style of Drawing Book magazine) + 20 illustrations (one for each page). More than one illustration may be chosen/commissioned from the same artist.
Deadline for all final commissioned illustrations: 30 April 2018.
Printing starts: 15 May 2018.
Fee 100 euro + VAT per illustration that is accepted and published in the publication.
