As part of Teatru Manoel’s ‘Wednesdays at the Manoel’ series, up-and-coming Japanese pianist Kotaro Fukuma will be performing a piano recital featuring some of the best works by Chopin and Debussy on Wednesday 22 April at 8pm.
Fukuma, who was born in Tokyo, started learning piano at the tender age of 5. He has won various awards in international competitions and he also won First Prize and the Chopin Prize at the 15th Cleveland International Piano Competition when he was just 20 years old. Since then, his career has been soaring and he’s performance on five continents.
During his Malta recital, Fukuma will perform Debussy’s Estampes, La Cathédrale engloutie, Images (Book 1) and L’Isle joyeuse as well as Chopin’s 4 Ballades. There is also a pre-concert talk at 7.15pm.
