This one-day seminar will discuss the initial results from the Valletta 2018’s five-year Evaluation & Monitoring research process. Through this process, the Foundation aims to explore the legacy of Valletta’s title as European Capital of Culture through an analysis of the title’s impacts on a different social phenomena, including employment & training in the creative industries, identity, cultural participation, use of space and accesibility, tourism, and the economy, amongst others.

The seminar will be addressed by a number of independent researchers and public entities who are carrying out research within these fields, and will each be presenting the initial results of their research carried out throughout 2015. Also addressing the conference will be Rolf Norås, who led Stavanger’s successful bid to host Norway’s European Capital of Culture title in 2008 and author of “What Would You Do Differently if You Knew What You Now Know: An investigation into 12 former European Capitals of Culture”.

The seminar will be held on the 25th February at the ICT Faculty Auditorium, University of Malta, from 8.30 am to 5pm. Registration is free.
