Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet, and is organised by WWF. Earth Hour 2016 will be held on Saturday 19th March between 8.30pm and 9.30pm in every local time zone. The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities’ households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
The programme for Earth Hour Malta 2016 is the following:
6.30pm – Screening of Climate Change Film: The 11th Hour – St James Cavalier façade
8pm – Screening of Official earth hour video – St James Cavalier façade
8 – 8.15pm – Light your Bike Parade – from St Anne’s street Floriana, through Republic Street, St John´s Square, Merchant Street to Castille Square.
8.30pm – Lights-off – Castille Square
In parallel 60+ logo and the 450th Valletta anniversary logo are candle lit
8.30pm – BMX stunt show – Castille Square
9.00pm – Fire Glow event (fire performers) – Castille Square
9.20pm – Renzo Spiteri: Quintessence – Castille Square
