Jutta Heim, the new novel by acclaimed Maltese author Immanuel Mifsud, will be launched at Cettina Cafe, Valletta, on Thursday 30th October at 7pm.
Mifsud has previously published a broad range of works, ranging from poetry, prose to children’s literature. His first publication was a collection of short stories titled Stejjer ta’ Nies Koroħ in 1991, which was shortly followed by other short stories collections and works of poetry, including Il-Ktieb tas-Sibt Filgħaxija in 1993 and Fid-dar ta’ Clara in 1998.
Mifsud’s work gained a broader audience in 2002, when his short story collection L-Istejjer Strambi ta’ Sara Sue Sammut was awarded the National Book Award. His previous work, Il-Ktieb tar-Riħ u l-Fjuri was the runner-up for the same prize the previous year. Mifsud’s book Fl-Isem tal-Missier (u tal-Iben) was Malta’s winner for the European Union Prize for Literature in 2011.
Mifsud’s work has been translated into a number of languages and included within various anthologies published across Europe.
A short film adaptation of Mifsud’s story Laqgħa ma’ Mara Morbi premieres at the National Book Festival on November 15th.
