Every year, the city of Valletta hosts the Maltese Carnival, one of the island’s oldest festive traditions. Over four vibrant days, the capital hosts dancers in elaborate costumes, marching bands and parades of handcrafted floats depicting various themes – people, animals and mythical creatures – travelling along the historic streets.
Ġewwa Barra, one of our ongoing community projects which gives Valletta residents the opportunity to actively engage with the changes in the city through artistic tools, sees residents hailing from the Duwi Balli neighbourhood organising artistic interventions in Steps Street for the Carnival period. A visual arts intervention will be up from Sunday 26th February while a performance with dance and maskaruni will take place on Monday 27th February in the morning!
