For the third consecutive year the Mellieħa Local Council will be organising the Mellieħa International Music Festival, from the 2nd to the 5th June. Following the success of the 2014 and the 2015 edition, this festival will serve as a platform for the local musical societies, together with a blend of international and Maltese bands, choirs and bagpipes.
This event is organised on a specially setup professional stage in an excellent setting offerred with the Mellieħa Parish at the background, while the night sky will be lit with a pyrotechnic display by Għaqda tan-Nar Maria Bambina Mellieħa at the end of each evening. This year’s programme will consist of the following items:
- Thursday 2nd June: Soft opening of the Festival at the Manikata Parish Church with the participation of the Catamici Chamber Choir from Leicester in the United Kingdom.
- Friday 3rd June: Concert by the Società Filarmonica LaVittoria of Mellieħa at the Mellieħa ParishSquare followied by the Wallace Pipes and Drums.
- Saturday 4th June: Concert by the Għaqda Mużikali Imperial u the Catamici Chamber Choir at the Mellieħa Parish Square.
- Sunday 5th June: Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa animated by the Sanctuary Choir.
Concert by the Brass Ensemble of the National Philharmonic Orchestra at the Mellieħa Parish Square, followed by the rock group JAMM at the Mellieħa Parish Square.
