Munich was one of the most prominent artistic centres in late 19th century Europe. Pilsen, the Czech European Capital of Culture for the year 2015, is celebrating Munich’s artistic heritage by exhibiting paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphics by artists from the Munich School, an institution that artists from all over the world desired to be part of. The exhibition, which will be held at Pilsen’s West Bohemian Gallery, will include pieces by Lovis Corinth, Ludwig Dill, Alexej von Jawlensky, Vasilij Kandinskij, Paul Klee, Alfred Kubin, Wilhelm Leibl, Franz von Lenbach, Gabriel von Max, Václav Brožík, Luděk Marold, Alfons Mucha, Hugo Steiner-Prag, Carl Thiemann, Joža Uprka and many others.
The Munich – Shining Metropolis of Art Exhibition is on at Pilsen’s West Bohemian Gallery from the 28th January 2015 to the 6th April 2015. For more information, please visit the Pilsen 2015 official website.
