Jointly developed by the Valletta 2018 Foundation and Heritage Malta, the citizen participation project Naqsam il-MUŻA is an exercise in community curation whereby members of the Gżira community will choose and present artworks from the art collection to be soon on display at MUŻA.
Following its recent editions in other locations such as Marsa and Kalkara, Naqsam il-MUŻA is once again hitting the streets – this time heading to Gżira. The project sees community members coming together to speak about which piece from the national collection strikes them the most. They then identify a space in their locality in which the piece that struck them is exhibited, placing art in the heart of the community.
The installation at Gzira is expected to be up on Thursday 17th November, but this provisional date may be subject to change. It will nonetheless keep running into December. A special performance in collaboration with Studio 18 is also taking place on the 20th November around Gżira. The meeting point for the performance is at Turu Colombo Square, entrance to St Clare College Gżira Primary School at 10.00 am and noon.
