The Aspen Institute in Prague and the Pilsen 2015 European Capital of Culture will be hosting the OPEN UP! Creative Placemaking Festival.

The festival will take place on the 6th and 7th November 2014 in both Prague and Pilsen . The two-day event will look at art and cultural activities as tools to economically and socially revive localities, cities and regions. Various local city stakeholders play a central role in shaping communities’ economic, physical, and social futures.

The Festival will be composed of several activities involving different target groups. These include an expert conference for urban activists, culture managers, and representatives of business, administrative, and local communities as well as the general public. The festival will also include a Creative Placemakers Night, with presentations by placemakers open for the public in Pilsen and closed working groups focusing on creative incubators, new sources for financing culture, smart tourism and the use of public space and creative placemaking.
