The Valletta 2018 Foundation is pleased to be hosting two free public lectures and screenings as part of the Storyworks project which is part of the Foundation’s Cultural Programme (see more here). Both lectures will take places on the 18th and 19th March 2015 at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity at 7pm.
The two free public lectures will address the topic of the art of screenwriting and are specifically designed for the local film and TV industry talent but film aficionados are also welcome to attend. The first lecture is delivered by international film consultant Mary Kate O Flanagan on the 18th March who will analyse Frozen River, a 2008 debut film by writer-director Courntey Hunt. The second lecture will be delivered on the 19th March by University of Southern California Professor of Screenwriting David Howard who will be discussing Midnight Run, an action-comedy film directed by Robert Brest. Screenings of both films will accompany the lectures. The films chosen use similar techniques but vary in tone and content.
The Storyworks 2015 run is from Saturday 14th March to Friday 20th March and focuses on teaching screenwriting skills to up-and-coming professionals through project development. This is the third edition of the Storyworks workshops.
