The Malta International Music Competition is taking place in Valletta between the 27th and the 31st of July, 2018. Organised by the Central Academy of Arts, this project provides numerous opportunities to generate awareness and encourage participation in the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture Programme. It is an educational, expandable cultural-exchange platform on the Maltese Islands, which consists of music masterclasses, open for piano, violin, guitar, saxophone, composers, chamber music, viola, cimbalom, saxophone ensemble, guitar ensemble, flute ensemble, chamber music of any orchestral instruments with or withour piano, and piano four-hands. Musicians of any nation are invited to participate.
Participants will get stage training, preparation to perform music compositions ranging from the classical to the contemporary, folk and jazz, and will be able to share this unique opportunity with other individuals in various ensembles. Participants in this masterclass will be divided into several categories and groups, and it is open to beginners, professionals, music lovers and general audiences. . Categories include the Young Category I (ages 7-12), the Young Category II (ages 13-17), the Adult Category (ages 18-33) and the Composers Category (no age limit).All masterclasses will be given by exceptional musicians, professors, concert masters, etc.
With a diverse and talented participant body representing 45 countries, the Malta International Music Competition are striking the goal of becoming the world’s premier institution for learning, competing and exhibitions of today and tomorrow, attracting a larger and larger amount of Maltese and foreign participants making music, studying and interacting together.
Other organisations involved in our project include the Valletta Local Council, the Mdina Local Council, the Society of Arts, some Maltese local clubs, orchestras and bands. Many international artists and ensembles are involved in twice a year.
