The Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale establishes a spiritual space that celebrates creativity by forging a stimulating modern environment where a number of art works by artists hailing from different cultural backgrounds are exhibited together under one theme. This year’s theme is ‘Christianity, Spirituality and the Other’ with the ‘Other’ meaning faith/non-faith, belief/non-belief, theist/atheist and agnostic/polytheist. This year’s edition of the Mdina Biennale will run from the 13th November 2015 to the 7th January 2016.
The concept of art being spiritual has remained central to the Mdina Biennale since its inception in the 1990s. The vision of the Mdina Biennale’s Artistic Director, Giuseppe Schembri, sees the Biennale as a spiritual space of and for creativity.
