A theatre of emotions about love, loss and longing and the power of music, Orfeo & Majnun will be an enchanting production that uses multiple textures, including shadow puppet theatre, to express a new take on these well known tales.
The project extends into workshops and collaborations with local citizens of all generations and backgrounds where students, choirs, musicians and artists participate in the process of co-creation. This fascinating piece builds up to a powerful community experience that makes it one of the biggest participatory projects on our programme.
Local and international artists, together with citizens participating in workshops, will present their work for the first part of the Orfeo & Majnun project.
Orfeo & Majnun is produced in partnership with the Valletta 2018 Foundation, La Monnaie in Brussels, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in France, Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, Operadagen in Rotterdam, Santa Maria da Feira in Portugal and the Krakow Festival Office in Poland.
