Special offers and extended services for travel to and from Valletta will be available during L-Aħħar Festa: The Valletta 2018 Official Closing happening on Saturday 15th December.
These initiatives encourage the public to make use of public transport and sustainable means of transport on the day.
Tallinja bus service will be increased by 50% from 4PM until midnight, with night buses operating from Valletta to various locations in Malta after midnight.
The Upper Barrakka Lift and Valletta Ferry Services (Sliema and the Three Cities) will also be extended until 1AM.
Those who attend L-Aħħar Festa may also benefit from special rates when using sustainable means of transport provided by Nextbike and Tallinja Bikes. Use the code 863386 when renting a Nextbike, for a journey of 60 minutes to or from Valletta free of charge. The code can be used twice, on two separate trips. Tallinja Bikes will also be available for travel within the city, at a discount of 50% during L-Aħħar Festa. Terms and conditions apply.
With open days at the new National Museum of Art, MUŻA, and the Valletta Design Cluster (The Old Abattoir) starting as early as 10AM and 11AM respectively, a fringe programme starting at 4PM, and Christmas shopping on full swing in the city, those visiting Valletta on the 15th of December will surely not run out of things to do and see. The public is therefore encouraged to think ahead to make good use of time and avoid traffic!
The Valletta 2018 Official Closing celebrations will reach their peak from 6.30PM onwards at St George’s Square, where live performances on the main stage by Tribali, Ozzy Lino, the Brass House Unit, DJ NeoX, Moveo Dance Company, and the Valletta 2018 Chorus will entertain the crowd until the late hours of the night. The show will be hosted by local presenters Mireille Bonello and Svetlana Muscat.
While performances begin at 6.30PM, the official closing event kicks off at 4.00PM with a fringe programme. This includes pop-up dance performances by the Big Dancers around the city, an installation by Magna Żmien, an interactive dance performance called Ballroom by ŻfinMalta at Is-Suq tal-Belt, a performance by citizen orchestra Mewġa Mużika, a performance of Alberto Favaro’s Geography of Lives, an installation inspired by the Latitude 36 project and organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion called Sempre Viva, a retrospective of the AiR programme in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv, and a multi-site interactive installation called Memory Wall.
