The Valletta 2018 Opening has been nominated for Arts Council Malta’s Il-Premju Għall-Arti 2019 — an award which acknowledges excellence in artistic work premiered during 2018.

The event, which saw a record breaking audience of more than 110,000 people in Valletta back in January 2018, is nominated under two categories: the People’s Choice Award and Production of the Year.

Il-Festa l-Kbira, another event by Valletta 2018 which brought Valletta’s four main feasts and communities together last April, is also nominated for the People’s Choice Award.

The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be chosen by the general public. The public may vote for the Valletta 2018 Opening or Il-Festa l-Kbira online through pca.artscouncilmalta.org/ or by calling +356 27790740 and following the instructions given.

Several other projects which formed part of the Valletta 2018 Cultural Programme are also nominated under other categories. These include Magna Żmien (nominated for the Innovation Award and Best Project in the Community), A Tale of Two Cities (nominated for Best International Achievement), Kantakantun (nominated for Best Work for Young Audiences), Hush (nominated for Best Work for Young Audiences and Production of the Year), Ġewwa Barra: Il-Ħasla, Deep Shelter and the Annual Representation of Opening Doors 2018 (nominated for Best Project in the Community).
