Do you as an establishment, want to be a part of a new sustainable network contributing to positive change?

The Valletta 2018 Foundation in collaboration with Global Green Events, are calling out to develop a new network of sustainable drinking outlets and eateries in Valletta and the surrounding area. Our aim is to commence the promotion of a new culture of operators who are adopting responsible practices, conscious sourcing, and who will through progressive commitments to change contribute to long term sustainable legacy.

The Foundation will be promoting the sustainable database throughout the year, and will be working with other influential stakeholders to ensure any positive changes within the industry will be recognized and supported well beyond 2018.

Each establishment will receive:

  • Listing on the Sustainable Eats and Treats social media page and other platforms

  • A promotional video highlighting the establishment of the new network

  • Promotion through stakeholders

  • A 2 hour free sustainability audit by Sustainability Consultant Gayle Murphy

  • A follow up report with key focus areas and strategies to move forward

  • Certification based on the level of achievement endorsed by Valletta 2018, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Change and Global Green Events that can be displayed within the establishment

The criteria for participating in this recognized network offers a three tiered structure of recognition. The recognized tier of rating is below:

  1. waste separation/recycling inhouse

  2. no plastic/jablo disposables (inc straws and single use plastic carrier bags) compostable or biodegradable disposables only

  3. ashtrays and recycling bins provided in outside areas

In addition to the bronze policies:

  1. offer water refills from an in-house dispenser

  2. offer ‘bring your own container’ initiatives

  3. Implement a minimum of 3 packaging reduction initiatives

In addition to the bronze and silver policies:

  1. Use biodegradable cleaning products

  2. Offer fair trade or organic coffee/teas

  3. Promote and educate on environmentally conscious food choices

Any establishments who are interested in participating in this exciting new network, please email [email protected] for further information. This call out is open ended, and an invitation that the Foundation and Global Green Events, with the support of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Change, will be cultivating throughout the year ahead. Certified applicants will remain part of the national scheme beyond 2018.

We look forward to hearing from you!
