Many people remember the nostalgia associated with the Rediffusion; waiting eagerly for programmes to air, especially entertainment and music ones. Many also remember Gaetano Buttigieg (Gaetano Kanta), who had the marvellous skill of translating and adapting popular Italian and English songs of the time into Maltese.
His lyrics portrayed scenes from our past; scenes we can still enjoy to this day. The variety of songs remind us of our past and serve as a documentation of society in his era. Down Memory Lane consists of a concert which re-discovers the memories of our senior audience; it’s a night of entertainment which will take them back to their childhood and adolescence, while opening a window onto 20th century society.
