The Valletta 2018 Foundation is endorsing the National Literacy Agency’s project entitled ‘The Power of Storytelling’. The project aims to raise awareness of the potential of storytelling as a learning tool in formal and non-formal education. It will improve the professional development of educators in using stories and storytelling with their learners to achieve literacy, socio-emotional development and cultural awareness.

In this project, spanning two days between the 27th-28th of April 2018, participants will be following a programme comprising of workshops, presentations and storytelling by renowned professional storyteller Nell Phoenix.  The project is administered by the National Literacy Agency in partnership with FEST (the Federation of European Storytelling), a European network of organizations and associations promoting storytelling across Europe.  The storytelling events will be taking place at the Central Public Library in Floriana.

Friday 27th April, 2018

09:00 – 10:00 – Interactive Storytelling Workshop by Nell Phoenix, a renowned professional storyteller, for students and educators from local primary schools participating in ‘Għidli Storja/Tell Me a Story’ storytelling programme run by the National Literacy Agency

10:00 – 10:15 – Storytelling by a selection of students from local primary schools participating in ‘Għidli Storja/Tell Me a Story’ storytelling programme run by the National Literacy Agency
