‘The Secret’ is the product of a collaboration called (In)Visibility between Opening Doors Association and the Valletta 2018 Foundation. This performance is part of a three-show series previewed in Malta and Leeds (UK). The performances in December, are a culmination of several months of intense workshops and activities involving a group of 13 performers with learning difficulties – dancers, actors and musicians, 3 collaborators and 3 facilitators as well as production co-ordinator that has supported the creation of this original work. The original work was created by Carol Brown of Draig Tan Productions (Wales) however in this performance we are presenting a new version that has been developed further by the Opening Doors artistic team and performers.

In the First Act by Dragon’s Heart and Dragon’ Soul present T4. In 1930s Germany a plan was formed to create a master race. The central services of this plan, Aktion T4, housed at Tiergartenstrasse 4 in Berlin was known as T4. As there was no room in this master race for people with a disability the regime killed 70,000 intellectually and physically impaired people. Unofficial estimates run far higher. This production celebrates the humanity and worth of the people deemed imperfect by this regime. We believe we are all perfect in our own way.

In the Second Act the Opening Doors Ensemble will present The Secret , a piece inspired by the iconic story of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The Director was attracted by this timeless story with its profound moral values that speaks to all ages. “We have played with the idea of convention versus freedom by looking at the pitfalls of our modern society seen through the eyes of a traveller from another world. “The Secret” is revealed to us when we are taken to the conclusion that One sees clearly only with the heart.”

The Secret will be held at the Valletta Campus Theatre, Valletta on the 8th and 9th December 2018. The performances start at 7.30pm. Get your tickets below!
