Valletta 2018’s film ‘Ħabbilni Ħa Nirbaħ’ (Knock Me Up, Knock Me Down) is making its international premiere at the Edmonton Film Festival in Canada, this coming weekend to participate in the festival’s official competition.

The international film festival is an Oscar-qualifying festival, which screens more than 150 films from a variety of genres from over 50 countries. Ħabbilni Ħa Nirbaħ will be competing against other award winning features.

This year, the festival is running from the 27th September to the 6th October.

Starring Shelby Aquilina, Sarah Micallef, Michela Galea and Jasmine Farrugia, the film is written in Maltese and tells the story of four teenage school girls hailing from four different social backgrounds, who make a bet to see which girl will get pregnant first by local famous actor Nate Cross (played by Jan Zammit). Their actions set off a trajectory which sees their lives and the lives of their family changed forever in this story filled with deceit, extortion, betrayal and pain.


The film is directed by Mario Azzopardi and written by Simon Bartolo and Mario Azzopardi.
