Participants are being sought for a project with artist Adrian Abela, who is working on a research-based art piece exploring the concept of ageing. This will form part of “The Culture of Ageing” – an exhibition by Dutch curators Lennard Dost & Mare van Koningsveld and is a production of Valletta2018 and Leeuwarden 2018.
The project seeks to explain, through art, how society deals with an ageing population.
The work of participating artist Adrian Abela consists of two parts: the documentation of his research at the European Research Centre for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA) in the Netherlands, and the documentation of a workshop in Malta with participants from various age groups.

Call for participants:
Chosen participants will follow a two-day workshop during the second week of June, where they will create a sculpture that mimics the process of ageing. More information will be sent to the shortlisted applicants or upon request.
Participants must be between 6- and 74-years-old. Only a small number of people will be selected, to represent different age groups. Selected candidates will be contacted by the artist over the coming weeks.
The workshop is free of charge and the work produced will form part of an artwork that will be included in the “The Culture of Ageing” exhibition in St James Cavalier, Valletta (August 31st – September 30th 2015). The documentation of research at ERIBA will also be shown at the Open Stal exhibition in Oldeberkoop, Holland (July 11th – August 9th 2015).
