Yesterday’s spectacle, which ran from 5.30pm till 11pm, was one of Valletta 2018’s largest projects out of a programme of 400 events organised throughout the year.
More than 50,000 people enjoyed the Valletta Pageant of the Seas who sought out the best viewpoints to enjoy the unique show in the Grand Harbour.
Since the early afternoon, thousands gathered around the Grand Harbour in Valletta and the Three Cities Area, at the water’s edge and atop the bastions and fortifications that surround the Grand Harbour to enjoy the show which included choreography tied with a structure that represents the Venus of Malta and Malta’s prehistoric times.
Various Maltese acrobats who took part in this occasion were part of this special choreography inside the structure of the Venus of Malta, who were trained by the international group La Fura Dels Baus.
This spectacle included original music and a choir which are part of Valletta 2018’s upcoming production ‘Aħna Refuġjati’, taking place in August.
The Valletta Pageant of the Seas 2018 came to a close with a spectacular fireworks display which lit up various areas of the Grand Harbour for this unique occasion.
The Valletta 2018 Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated and took part in this event, together with the public of the Maltese Islands that once again came together this year for the European Capital of Culture.
The Valletta Pageant of the Seas will be aired this Sunday 10th June at 9pm on TVM 2.
