St James Cavalier is screening Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, directed by Polly Findlay, live from Statford-upon-Avon on Wednesday 22^nd July at 8pm.

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production is set in Venice where trade reigns supreme, with its ships travelling the world and its doors open to any who are ready to do business.

Money is abundant and everything moves along swimmingly, that is until a contract between Bessanio and Shylock is broken, which consequently gives rise to a flare in racial tensions. Shylock, a hated father and outcast, seeks to get his payment in blood.
