The Mediterranean Fractures symposium will be taking place on the 5th and 6th November at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus and is being organised by the Mediterranean Institute of the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Centre for Postcolonial Research – University of Kent and the Associazione Italiana di Studi sulle Culture e Letterature di Lingua Inglese (AISCLI), with the support of the Ministry for Education and Employment.
Writers Hisham Matar and Abdulrazak Gurnah, both shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, will be delivering keynote speeches at the upcoming Mediterranean Fractures symposium. Mr. Matar will also be delivering a public lecture while in Malta and he will also be participating in Inizjamed’s upcoming Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival.
The second edition of the Mediterranean Fractures symposium seeks to unearth a solution, through an interdisciplinary approach, to the challenges presented by recent and persistent aspects of fractured consciousness present in the Mediterranean, with issues ranging from the Israel-Gaza conflict to the transformation of the Mediterranean Sea to a graveyard for migrants.
Registration is now open. For more information, please visit the University of Malta official website.
