This Woman’s Day, come celebrate with Sofar Sounds, and participate in one of the worldwide gigs on 8 March being organised in partnership with Women for Women International, a charity whose primary focus is empowering women marginalised by war and conflict. In true Sofar style, the musical lineup and venue are kept secret until the day of the show.

Sofar Sounds – “Songs from a room” – is an innovative concept of intimate, secret pop-up gigs held within domestic spaces. Sofar Sounds gigs have taken place in over 80 cities in 37 countries across the world.

Sofar Sounds was first introduced to Malta in April 2014, through a cosy gig at Splendid in Strait Street. The small crowd was treated to live performances by the Shh, Megafun, The Clandestines, and Cosmic Erotic.

Following the resounding success of the first Sofar Sounds gig in Malta, the Valletta 2018 Foundation, together with Sofar Sounds Malta, held an open competition for bands and musicians, with the winner to play at a Sofar Sounds show in London. The competition winners were Plato’s Dream Machine, who traveled to London to perform in October 2014.

The competition participants performed at another Sofar Sounds Malta gig in Sliema, that month.

Venue and performers will be announced on the day of the show. Book your place by emailing [email protected].
